The presentations I remember most from the last day where "Sonification of Facial Actions for Musical Expression" and "Pocket Gamelan: a Pure Data interface for java phones".

The first one was about a way of recognizing facial expressions to generate music.

The second one was a Pure Data to J2ME converter. A program that could translate PD patches to MIDlets (Java programs for mobile phones).

The rest of the day is blurry... :)

The keynote speech was given by Golan Levin. He talked his work and showed some videos about them. I didn't know his work, and I liked it very much. Some very simple concepts with maybe not-so-simple implementations that result in great visuals and sound.

The second day of NIME was the first day of the paper sessions.

The keynote speech was given by Don Buchla, that talked about the musical instruments that he has created over the years.

The first day of NIME started with a workshop about an audio programming language -- ChucK. The language itself is an interesting one, from my point of view. It supports multiple, simultaneous, dynamic control rates, code modification on-the-fly and, although it is not a graphical programming language, it captures the graph model of those languages.

Ok, now I'm really taking off... :)
