Advanced Background Subtraction Demo
I have been working on some examples for my Interactive Video Art course at the School of Arts of the Portuguese Catholic University.
Here's a video of an example that performs background subtraction and silhouette extraction. I'll not post the code because it's still a work in progress...
The video is low quality so you can't see the silhouette lines...

hello i am a university student in sydney and am learning processing and for my final project have decided to use background subtraction and i tried using daniell shiffman's background removal code but it does not work can you please let me know how you use the background subtraction. my work basically includes images and a video on top I will make the video become almost invisible so the images from behind will show and then use background removal to make the background black.. My submission is in 1 week and i really need help waiting to hear from you thanks alot sadhwi sondhi

Sou arquiteto e atualmente estou escrevendo uma tese sobre arquitetura ubiqua na Universidade Paris 1 (Sorbonne). Como parte da tese estou elaborando uma instalação chamada "Parede chrono chromica". A instalação consiste em uma parede revestida com uma pintura termo sensível sobre a qual se encontra uma matriz de resistências de 8x8. Através do arduino e do processing espero poder controlar esta matriz de maneira a formar imagens de silhuetas a partir de uma câmera. A técnica do background subtraction me parece bastante apropriada para esta instalação. Atualmente estou trabalhando sobre uma base de códigos elaborada por Brian Chung (http://www.bryanchung.net/) que capta a imagem em preto e branco e a envia para uma matriz de leds (branco - led aceso; preto - led apagado. Sou relativamente novato com o processing e tive dificuldade para compreender o processo que você utilizou para criar as mascaras neste seu experimento. Seria possível ter acessa-los?

Hola Jorge, estoy escribiendo un codigo para hacer handtracking en processing. Nada mas te pido una informacion: tu codigo funciona en frente a green/blue/ screen (o de qualquier color) o puede trabajar en qualquier situacion? muchas gracias!!y suerte por tu trabajo

I downloaded your code source but I don't know well the Java and Processing so it is difficult to understand from your code source. I hope you can explan your technique so that i can do this wih the code C. I am a student and my internship is similar to what you did.

I tried to read your code source but I can't understand because I'm not good in Java and I have never used Processing. Can you explan how you make your technique so that I can do it in code C. There are libraries that do this already, you don't need to code it. Check out openCV and OpenFrameworks.

I checked for the librabry openCV but in my projet internship, they don't use any library :((. I have also search with google but there are the complicated solutions and not enough information to do with. I have contacted avec some person who made these article but no answer. What I want for the moment is something simple, without update for the background model. I tried to make 2 solutions from which I found but the resultat is not very good. I found that your technique give a good resultat. In your code, I understand that you make the model from the RGB color space, right? I would like to know how you make a model background. Please help me.

I tried some techniques background subtraction but the result is not as good as your technqiue. I tried to execute your code with Processing but it miss the library "unlekker". How can I fond this library. I want to tried it once and then try to understand your code. Please help me !
